What I'm working on: what it is, and help.

I was never good with romance writing, but Imma give it a try this time. I'm thinking "Twilight with class". (a bunch of you pulled guns out of your pockets 0_0). Is it possible to write a story with just as much effect as Twilight but without really hot characters (the guy in the story is just "handsome", the main characters' bf is supposed to be really hot. they break up), or without any seriousness (no long speeches of love that can be easily summed up in two words)?

I need me some Twilight fans and romance novel people to give me some input.
