I have a friend who i've known for a couple of years. We were never as close as best friends are and I've never hung out with her alone, but I always see her at parties and we talk a lot. Her friend knows that I like her so she gave me the girl's number and told me to text her and start talking to her. The problem is that i'm not sure what to say to this girl. We never have any problems talking in person and it just feels unnatural to me to ask how her day is and whatnot through a text.
We always have great natural conversations in person and it seems to me that I would be trying too hard if I asked just simple casual questions to her, especially due to the fact that I never text her. I do want to get to know her better but since I am in her social circle and am friends with a number of her friends, I don't want to get grouped in as "just a friend" and have her feel awkward that a friend is trying to date her. She has shown that she enjoys having me around before, I don't have a lack of confidence that she'll want to date me, I am just wondering if texting her is the right way to go and i'm looking for suggestions on what would be a good thing to text her
