Heavy Metal: This subgenre is often referred to as the main genre, the name is used when no subgenre seems to fit the Metal. Contains LOUD and distorted instruments (band example: Judas Priest) *need help*
Progg Metal: Basically hard rock but with more distortion and heaviness (band example: Avenged Sevenfold) *need help*
Power Metal: Ah, my second favorite. Power metal demands highly talented voices with wide vocal ranges. It usualy contains some digitally distorted instruments, so it is hard to pull off onstage, but some bands are successful with that. The genre is famous for utilizing the keyboard and keytar in many bands to give the music a fantasy feel to it. The lyrics are usually positive and fantasy-like. (BE: Blind Guardian)
Melodic Metal: My most favorite music of all. Melodic Metal is usually similar to Power metal, but it demands even more vocal talent and a lot of technical knowledge. A good 40% of what is recorde is digitally altered to give it the melodic sound, although a few artists are able to pull off the melodic sound naturally. Vocals are often clean; not screaming. (BE: Theocracy)
Undarkened Thrash Metal: when you get heavily distorted guitars in a song along with very fast drumming with mainly Agressive yet audible vocals; usually depressive lyrics (band example: Metallica, FFDP) *need help*
Darkened Thrash Metal: Like the above, but more violent and aggressive. *need help*
Black Metal: For those Devil worshippers; Satanic lyrics. Usually sounds talentless. *need help*
Death Metal: *need help*
