I was recently eating some pumpkin seeds in the presence of some friends. I drew a reaction of absolute shock from one of them as he saw me chewing. My confused reaction caused my other friend to rally to my side of the emerging debate. I was eating the seed and husk whole as I've always done and always seen everyone else do my entire life.
Apparently some people actually crack it open and eat only the inside seed part, leaving the husk to be discarded. My friend is among them and his astounded reaction to what I thought was the norm suggests there may be some diversity here.
Do you eat the entire thing?
