So we're looking at getting another car soon. I'll be giving up my 1999 Audi A6 so my mom can drive that in the winter and my brother can drive our Explorer when he gets his license, so i'll need another car. We were randomly out looking at cars last night and saw a sweet 2004 Audi A4. 1.5L Turbo with Quattro (a requirement. I'm not going to get a car without AWD) and it's tricked out. Black leather heated seats, sports package. Basically its the same exact car as mine on the inside, but newer and better on the outside. On the other hand it does have a 1.5T engine as opposed to a 2.8L V6. It shouldn't really be slower. It has a black exterior with black leather interior. It looks sharp. It has 123,000 miles, and mine has 180,000. The asking price is $8,995 which is high for our area. So we're gonna ask about $7800 ish or lower.
While I was looking up the Audi, I saw a nice 2004 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD in our same area for $7500. It gets better mpg by a couple gallons, but besides that there's not much difference besides it being a Volvo. I do like the look of the Audi much better. The Volvo is a dark grey color with tan interior. Leather interior, heated seats, blah blah. 124,000 miles.
What would you guys recommend? Quattro would handle a lot better in the snow, simply because it's Quattro. But the Volvo is cheaper with basically the same amenities, and Volvos are really safe cars just like Audis.
EDIT: Just test drove the Audi, and we're definitely passing on it. Besides the jack ass salesman talking to us like we're dumbasses (as we pull up in an Audi) it just doesn't feel right. They said they put $3,000 into it (in a $7,000 trade in car? not a chance) and it's still iffy.
EDIT EDIT: There's an 05 2.0T A4 with quattro with 20K less miles and $500 less starting price near us too. Might check that out.
